The Gerald Rawn Memorial Golf Tournament, awarding annual scholarships to the Boys Scouts of Troop 436 since 1999, will be held Saturday at the Bolado Park Golf Course, located at 777 Airline Highway in Tres Pinos.

Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. with opening ceremonies scheduled for 11:30 a.m. A shotgun start will happen at noon, with a Court of Honor and steak dinner slated for the 19th Hole at 5 p.m.

Cost is $85 per player, which includes golf, a cart, a goodie bag, lunch, a banquet and awards.

Awards will be given out to the top three teams, closest to the pin, longest drive and any hole-in-ones, which will be awarded a Harley Davidson. Raffle items include a round of golf for a foursome, a 42-inch LCD television, a wheel barrel of beer, wine gift baskets, a Cleveland wedge, golf GPS and much more.

Baler football welcomes former player, coaches for ‘The Return of Champions’

San Benito Haybaler football welcomes all players and coaches from their CCS championship-winning teams to “The Return of Champions” at Andy Hardin Stadium on Friday, Sept. 24.

The school is celebrating the 25th, 10th and 5th anniversaries of its five championship football teams — 1984, 1985, 1986, 2000 and 2005 — prior to Friday night’s 7:30 p.m. football game between San Benito and Palo Alto.

Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with a no-host social at Relax! Grillin & Chillin Restauarant, located at the corner of San Juan and Union roads. Free admission and sideline passes will be available to Friday’s games for all players from each of the five championship teams.
