Pinnacle Climbing Areas Reopen: Rock formations subject to advisory closures to rock climbing and off-trail hiking for protecting nesting birds of prey at the Pinnacles National Monument have been reopened. A total of 32 Prairie falcons fledged from eight nests, and American Kestrels and Red-tailed hawks produced young this year.

Children’s program: The Aromas branch of the Monterey County Free Libraries is hosting a children’s program Thursday, July 24, at 10 a.m. by Story Creek Critters. The clowns offer a hilarious show of slap-stick comedy, puppets and magic with audience participation.

This program is part of the Aromas Library’s Summer Reading Program “Reading is a Picnic.” Children are also invited to fill out reading logs and win prizes.

Indian Storytelling Event: The 8th annual Indian Canyon’s “Indian Storytelling Event” will take place July 26, featuring storytelling, Ohlone dance groups, food, a raffle and ceremony. Library book sale: Friends of the Library is having a book sale Saturday, July 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. by the courtyard and shed behind the library at 470 Fifth St. New and used books are for sale for every interest area and reading level. Scholastic book fair: Girl Scout Troop #3473 will hold a book fair from July 28 to Aug. 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. The “Clued into Reading” book fair will offer the most sought after titles in literature for every reader and Spanish selections. The book fair also offers school supplies, posters, stuffed animals, craft kits, computer games and more.
