Residents can help win funds for Granada Theatre though online vote

HOLLISTER – Residents have a chance to help obtain $25,000 toward renovations at the Granada Theatre downtown.

The Hollister Downtown Association has joined a contest put on by the National Trust for Historic Preservation called the “This Place Matters Challenge.” Locals can take part by voting for the Granada Theatre on the organization’s website.

There are 55 communities taking part in the contest. The HDA is vying for the $25,000 that could go toward some improvements in a larger renovation effort.

According to the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s website where residents can vote, “the building is privately owned, and leased and sub-leased to a mixture of theater, retail and residential tenants. The eventual vision of the Hollister Downtown Association and the San Benito County Arts Council is to retain ownership of the building and convert the entire building to theater and arts related use.”
