A new solar company is open on the corner of Fifth and San Benito streets.

Solar company opens downtown
With the popularity of solar energy increasing across the
country and here in San Benito County, Ignacio Velazquez decided to
establish a new business as a branch-off from his long-held
American Electrical Services. AES Solar
– which stands for Alternative Energy Systems – recently opened
at the corner of Fifth and San Benito streets. Velazquez explained
how his electrical company had been gaining more and more requests
from developers and solar contractors for such work, so it prompted
him to start doing his own pr
ojects, both commercial and residential. He pointed out how the
popularity has grown along with the efficiency of the solar panels,
which he estimated now have a five- to six-year

payback

for commercial buildings and 6 to 10 years for residential
properties
– as opposed to it taking 15 to 20 years at one point for
consumers to get their money back for such investments. AES Solar
is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For information,
call (866) 569-5303 or 638-1737.
