The former Hollister Music store on Fourth Street is now The Music Tree, based on its new affiliation with the Morgan Hill store of the same name.

The former Hollister Music store at 125 Fourth St. near downtown officially changed hands in early July. The Music Tree based in Morgan Hill bought the location and, although the building still has the former Hollister Music sign out front, the local shop will be going by the Music Tree name, said Carson Dean, the drum specialist at the Morgan Hill location.

The Music Tree held its grand opening Aug. 15, the same day as the Street Festival downtown. The store plans to have all the same offerings from the Morgan Hill location.

Its Web site describes the Music Tree as offering “thousands of items in stock, instrument sales and rentals and private music instruction.”

The store also touts itself as being active in the community. Dean noted how the Music Tree donated instruments and other supplies to the Hollister School District for classroom use this year. For more information, go to www.themusictree.com.
