Dunn-Edwards line added at Hollister Paint Company
Hollister Paint Company, which has been in business in the county since 1927, debuted a new line of paint that will expand its offerings to local customers. The paint store will now sell Dunn-Edwards in addition to Benjamin Moore.
“Dunn-Edwards approached us and asked us to be a provider,” said Judy Goularte who owns and runs the store with her son Lance Goularte. “A lot of contractors like Dunn-Edwards. They won’t have to go to Salinas or San Jose – Salinas is the closest – to get the paint.”
As part of the grand-opening of the new paint line and as a customer appreciation, the Goulartes offered a catered lunch from Dona Esther’s to customers from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 22.
Goularte said the store offers paint to customers, but also contracts out for customers who would like to hire them to do the painting for both residential and commercial projects. Goularte said the Lance is the fourth-generation working in the business.
Lance pointed to a picture of his great-grandfather, Ed Hooper, that hangs on the wall in the office.
“He came from Idaho and started as a sign painter,” Lance said. “He started manufacturing his own paint, but in the ’70s the laws got strict so he started buying paint.”
Don Hooper, Judy’s father and Ed’s son, took over the business in the 1970s. Lance said the store has kept busy with contracting work the last year.
“We’ve been doing a lot of repainting and commercial work this year,” he said. “We’ve been really fortunate.”
Hollister Paint Company is located at 57 East St., in Hollister. The store continues to sell Benjamin Moore paint as well as the newly added Dunn-Edward paint line. For more information, visit www.hollisterpaintcompany.com or call 637-4145.
