Local homeowners who have been putting off a much-needed paint job on the exterior of their home have a chance to compete for a free exterior paint job from Hollister Paint Co. before the December holiday.
Lance Goularte is asking families who are in desperate need of a paint job to send in a short description of why their family needs the outside of their home painted, including reasons they have not been able to afford it on their own, and photos of the outside of the home. Goularte is asking residents to include just an address or a phone number, but not their names, so that he can make the selection solely based on the write-ups and photos instead of the identity of the homeowners.
“The only reason I came up with it is I just feel like we need to give back to the community,” said Goularte, the co-owner of Hollister Paint Co. “We’ve been fortunate this year with having great business. We’ve kept so busy, I feel we need to give back to our community.”
Goularte is asking interested residents to mail in, drop off or email in the write-up and photos by the end of November. He will make a selection in December and, with weather permitting, will schedule a time to paint the home before Christmas.
He said the cost of painting a home’s exterior varies depending on how much prep work is needed, such as scraping, priming and painting.
“Unfortunately some families are not able to do that or afford it,” Goularte said. “We’d like to do a house that actually needs a paint job. We would take on everything from beginning to finish.”
