The Great San Juan Bautista Rib Cook-Off is scheduled for May 21 and May 22 in the Mission City. It will include ribs, entertainment, and arts and crafts. The rib cook-off involves a competition involving rib cooks from all over the region and is hosted by Williams LTD.
Indoor yard sale
The Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Auxiliary are having an Indoor Yard Sale on May 13 and May 14. It will be held at the Veterans Memorial Building, 649 San Benito St., from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Spaces are available for $20, but reserve early. There will be all-day drawings and snacks for sale. San Juan car show
Gold Coast Rods of the Central Coast is hosting a San Juan Bautista Car Show May 15. It is the 14th annual San Juan Bautista Show & Shine event. It is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown historic San Juan Bautista. Pre-registration is $50 with day-of registration at $60. ‘Movies in the Park’
The City of Hollister’s Recreation Department has plans to present “Movies in the Park” at Dunne Park this summer. The city made the announcement on its website. The first movie is scheduled. It is “Inside Out” and will play at 8 p.m. May 20. The brief announcement for the showing of the Oscar-winning Disney/Pixar movie notes that the city will make announcements soon on other movies.
Masquerade fundraiser
A “Masquerade” event is set for 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 12 at the Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital Inner Patio. It is a $5 jewelry and accessories sale. Proceeds benefit the Auxiliary for Hospital Benefits Sponsored by the Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Election and voter information forum
The San Benito County Elections Office is hosting a election voter informational public forum set for 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. May 14 at the county board chambers, 481 Fourth St., in Hollister. CPR at the farmers market
Emergency Medical Services and American Medican Response are hosting a Hands Only CPR session May 18 at the downtown farmers market. It is set for 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. AMR will be teaching hands-only CPR to all, including kids. Make sure if a co-worker, student or family member suddenly crumples to the ground, you would know what to do.

Hollister Airshow
The sixth annual Hollister Airshow is set for Father’s Day weekend, June 18 and June 19, at the Hollister Municipal Airport. There will be many aircraft performers and other activities, such as a car show. The Hollister Airshow will be hosting a display of local enthusiasts vehicles ranging from the 1930s to present. To add your vehicle to the show, call (831) 636-4365 to apply for a display pass. Otherwise, the static aircraft display spans the length of the airfield where visitors can get up close with the best of modern and historic aviation. Acts will include Vickey Benzing, Jason Pullen, Kevin Walker, Dr. D, and The Alabama Boys, with their special act landing on the world’s shortest runway, a moving truck.
Country Tribute Concert
Before this year’s San Benito County Saddle Horse Show & Rodeo, Hollister Concerts at Guerra Cellars, 500 John Smith Road, is hosting a Country Tribute Concert. Gates open at 5 p.m., with the show from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It is a tribute to Jason Aldein, Kenny Chesney and Tobey Keith. For more, go to HollisterConcerts.com.
Saddle Horse Parade entry forms
Entry forms are available for the Saddle Horse Parade in June with the theme of “Boots, Broncs and Bandanas”. The parade is limited to 80 entries on a first-come, first-serve basis. Residents can enter online or go to the chamber office at 243 Sixth St. in downtown Hollister
Saddle Horse Show & Rodeo at Bolado
The 83rd annual San Benito County Saddle Horse Show and Rodeo is scheduled for June 24-26 at Bolado Park in Tres Pinos.
