Multiple shows open at Monterey Museum

The Monterey Museum of Art has several shows on display, including “The Art of California, 1880 to present,” “Adams & Weston and the masters of California Photography, “California Artists and Portraiture,” and more. The museum has locations at 559 Pacific St. and 720 Via Mirada. It is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $2.50 for students and military and children under 12 are free. Historical Park activities set

The San Benito County Historical Park will host several events June 4, including an Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor Show that will be open all day. Admission is free and will feature antique engine and tractor displays, and demonstrations. Food will be available for purchase and there will be entertainment and a playground area for kids. There will also be a barn sale, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Spaces are available for $10. Residents can sell items or search for a special treasure to buy. Wine tasting

A wine tasting will also be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with entertainment, hors d’oeuvres and door prizes. Food will be provided by “Spice of Life Catering” and entertainment will be provided by the San Benito Stage Company and Mr. Ostenson’s Save the Music Drive. Living History Day

The San Juan Bautista Historical Park will host a Living History Day June 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Meet the characters of early California. Costumed docents will portray mountain man, Civil War soldiers, Victorian ladies, craftsmen and more. Watch cooking and craft demonstrations. Old-fashioned sodas will be available for purchase in the saloon for $2. The event is sponsored by the Plaza History Association. Adults are $3, children under 16 are free. Miss San Benito Rodeo contest

The San Benito County Saddle Horse Show & Rodeo kicks off with the Miss San Benito Rodeo contest June 11, at 9 a.m., at the fairgrounds. A memorial roping event will be held June 18, at 9 a.m., free to spectators. On June 19, there will be figure-8 roping eliminations, free to spectators. June 23 will be the Saddle Horse Parade in downtown Hollister, at 6 p.m. June 24 will have a variety of events, including the horse show and rodeo at 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for toddlers through 11-year-olds. Wag ‘n Walk

Pacheco State Park will host the 10th annual Kite Day June 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everyone who flies a kite will receive a souvenir Kite Day button. There will be other activities such as make your own kite, face painting, a pie-eating contest and a bubble gum blowing contests. There will be nature tables and crafts. Summer movies series

A summer movies series will kick off June 24 at the San Juan Bautista Elementary soccer field, with a viewing of “Megamind.” All viewings are free and start at sunset. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No alcoholic beverages are permitted. The series is a collaboration of the Plaza History Association of San Juan Bautista State Historic Park and the San Juan Elementary home and school club. Earthbound Farms is a sponsor. Memorial Golf Tournament

San Juan Oaks and Hollister Relay for Life are sponsoring the Kelly Freitas Memorial Golf Tournament July 15, with a shotgun start at noon. The event will benefit Hollister Relay for Life, in honor of Kelly Freitas who passed away of cancer in 2010. The format will be a four-person scramble. It includes a steak and chicken barbecue dinner buffet immediately following the tournament. A silent auction will be held during the dinner. The cost for the tournament is $115 per player, and includes green fees, cart, range balls, on course contest and dinner. The price for dinner alone is $35 for adults and $15 for children 5-12.
