‘Showcasing Our Local Artists’ show
The Hollister Art League will be hosting the “Showcasing Our Local Artists” art show now through Nov. 14, at the Blak Sage Gallery, 727 San Benito St., in Hollister. ‘Sleeping Beauty’
Monterey Peninsula College Storybook Theatre presents, “Sleeping Beauty,” the play runs through Nov. 22. Tickets for the play range from $9-$15, with group discounts available. Sacred Heart dinner dance
The Sacred Heart Foundation will be hosting a dinner and dance on Nov. 14, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at San Juan Oaks, 3825 Union Road. Brian Hackney, a correspondent for CBS 5’s “Eye On The Bay,” will be the guest speaker for the evening. Hackney is a native of California born Hollister. He graduated from Sacred Heart Parish School in 1971 and San Benito High School in 1975. Tickets for the event will be $65 per person or $520 for a table with sponsor recognition. Tickets can be bought at Sacred Heart Parish School. All proceeds for the fundraiser will go to scholarships for students seeking to attend Sacred Heart Parish School. An afternoon of fashion
All Creatures Great and Small Rescue will be hosting an afternoon of fashion fundraiser, silent auction and raffle Nov. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Cedar House restaurant. The fashion show will feature outfits from Drapoel and Teezerz, She’s, Muenzer’s and Mrs. B’s. Tickets are $30, and include the show, lunch and beverages. Yule Benefit Concert
The Rock Guitar Club will host its annual Yule Benefit Concert at the San Benito High School Auditorium Nov. 14, from 6-10 p.m. Featured performers include The Tragic Comeback, Burned on the Stake, Fugu, Iron Storm, Baptised in Blood, and Inevitably Spicy. Tickets are $7 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Community Food Bank.

Albacore feed
The Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project will be hosting its 32nd annual albacore dinner on Saturday, Nov. 14 starting with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. at the Castroville Recreation Center, 11261 Crane St. Tickets for the fundraiser are $17 and will sold at the door. The Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project are hosting this dinner to help restore the natural salmon and trout population back to the area. Trip to San Francisco
The San Benito County Association of Realtors affiliate committee is holding “A Day in the City.” Participants will meet at Gold’s Gym parking lot at 8 a.m., and will arrive at Union Square around 10 a.m. Participants will board the bus at 4:30 p.m. in San Francisco and will return by 7 p.m. The fee is $45 and includes the bus fare, refreshments and parking. Video premiere and illusionist
Cally Nunes, a local musician, will premiere her video at Paine’s Restaurant in Hollister, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. The event will be preceded by an illusionist, with the video showing after. Railroad Club open house
The Model Railroad Club is hosting an open house at Bolado Park, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free, though a donation of a non-perishable food item is suggested. Raffle tickets will be sold for $5 or $5 worth of can goods with a complete 4’x8′ Christmas Train Layout. All proceeds will be donated to the Community Food Bank. The winner does not have to be present.
Pedro Card Party
Tres Pinos School seventh and eighth graders are sponsoring a Pedro Card Party, Nov. 21, at 6:15 p.m. at Tres Pinos School in the multi-use room. The cost for Pedro players is $5 per person, and there will be lots of prizes for the winners. Refreshments will be served at the close of the evening, and some lucky person will win a complete Thanksgiving dinner basket. The proceeds will be used for class activities and field trips, including an eighth-grade trip to the state capitol in Sacramento where students will watch Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger sign a bill and meet with local state legislators.

Health seekers workshops
The YMCA will be offering health seekers workshops to share information with those who are seeking a healthy lifestyle and healthy community. The speakers for the “An Apple A Day…” event will be Drs. The annual Holiday Tree Lighting is Dec. 4, at 4 p.m. in Devendorf Park on Ocean and Junipero avenues. The Carmel Fire Department will deliver Santa Claus at 4:30 p.m., and Mayor Sue McCloud will light the tree at 5:45 p.m rain or shine. There will performances by the Carmel Middle School Chorus, and refreshments will be provided by the Monterey Bay Area Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Carmel Chamber of Commerce.
