Caltrans will commence a vegetation and brush control project on Highway 129 starting Thursday, August 10.
The vegetation control project will reduce the threat of brush fires in the area and improve sight distance for all travelers, according to a Caltrans press release dated August 4.
Work will go from the shoulder of Highway 129 from the junction of State Route 1 to east of Coward Road in Watsonville. It’s expected to last four days.
Motorists will encounter one-way reversing traffic control from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Delays are expected not to exceed 20 minutes.
Electronic signs will be activated to inform the public about the roadwork. Motorists are advised to use US Highway 101 as an alternate route.
Roadwork will be performed by the Caltrans Hollister Maintenance Team and the Caltrans Salinas Tree Crew.
In the press release, Caltrans reminds motorists to move over or slow down when driving through work zones.
