Hollister – Some 700 players will converge in Hollister for the Hollister Team First Football Camp today at San Benito High School.
The camp, now in its fourth year, is run by San Benito Head Coach Chris Cameron and his coaching staff. It will host some 10 high schools from the area, including San Benito, Aptos, Pajaro Valley, St. Francis, Alisal, North Salinas, Gilroy, Sobrato, Willow Glen and Lincoln.
“It gives everybody a chance to see where they are in terms of performance and players,” Cameron said. “It gives us an idea of where we are and how far we need to go.”
Freshman-, junior varsity- and varsity-level players will workout in Hollister, covering both internal (linemen, linebackers) and perimeter game (defensive backs, quarterbacks, tight ends, running backs, etc.) situations. Additionally, 7-on-7 drills as well as situational scrimmages will take place.
Today, the camp will include two practices, running from 2:45 to 7:35 p.m. On Saturday, three practices will take place, running from 9am to 3:45pm.
