Two candidates are out to big leads for three open seats on the San Benito High School District Board of Trustees, while the third-place candidate has pulled out to a lead for the final spot, according to unofficial election results.

The elections office still must count about 2,700 vote-by-mail ballots and another 450 to 500 provisional ballots, said Joe Paul Gonzalez, the county’s head elections official. He expects to have all the remaining ballots counted by sometime next week.

With all precincts reporting, Bill Tiffany gained 25.3 percent of the vote. Tim Shellito had 24.6 percent. Mary Encinias had 18.4 percent, with 3,599 votes, while Steve De Lay received 17.8 percent, or 3,480 votes. Guille Reynoso, meanwhile, gained 12.9 percent of the vote.
