The San Benito County Chamber of Commerce is opening a Visitors Bureau office in San Juan Bautista on Friday, according to an announcement from the organization.

San Benito County chamber member Galeria Tonantzin, located at 115 Third St. next to Jardines Restaurant, has offered to host the location for the bureau. The office will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. It will be staffed by chamber employees, board members and volunteers, according to the countywide chamber.

With the opening, the chamber wants to provide information and resources to tourists and businesses from the location, according to the chamber announcement.

The announcement calls the San Juan spot the “perfect location for the Visitors Bureau because it is the gateway to San Benito County” and goes on to note how it also has great amenities for visitors such as the historic downtown corridor, the largest California Mission, Fremont Peak and observatory, quaint boutiques and a variety of restaurants and bars, along with its serene location in the San Juan Valley.

The chamber will be providing information on the wine trail, Pinnacles National Monument, Hollister Hills, historic downtown Hollister, Tres Pinos attractions, the Hollister airport, a candy factory and farm tours, Hollister Farmer’s Market, earthquake tours, local events and activities, plus countless other points of interest.

Along with the opening of the Visitors Bureau the chamber recently filed documents with the California Secretary of State to change its name to the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau to reflect its growing interests in developing a greater tourism outreach, according to the group.

According to the announcement: “We are ready to put San Benito County on the map in an effort to strengthen our businesses and to foster an appreciation of all we have to offer to tourists.”

There will be a special ribbon cutting and open house and it is set for 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 3 at the bureau.
