The county Board of Supervisors this week approved two contracts for engineering work on a building at 321 San Felipe Road where Child Support Services operations will permanently move.
The 25-employee department transferred in late February from its former location at 220 San Felipe Road to a temporary home on Technology Parkway. Mold infestation at 220 San Felipe Road allegedly caused an array of health problems during a two-year stretch before they left.
Those employee allegations led to 24 of the workers filing lawsuits against the landlord of the building. The cases have since been consolidated into one suit, and the landlord has counter-sued the county and two contractors that performed work on the building.
The next hearing in the case will occur Oct. 30. The 24 plaintiffs plan to seek an out-of-court settlement, according to Charles Kelly, the San Francisco-based lawyer representing the workers.
