Hollister – The directors of the San Benito County Council of Governments will discuss COG’s budget for fiscal year 2007-2008 on Thursday.

The total requested budget is $42 million, including $27.5 million for the Highway 25 bypass and $8.8 million for the Highway 25 safety project. That’s an 11 percent increase from fiscal year 2006-2007.

The board will also look at COG’s work program, which outlines its plans and goals for the coming fiscal year. Those plans include finalizing design for the Highway 25 safety project, implementing a new short-range transit plan and completing environmental review for improvements to Highway 156.

COG’s final budget will be approved at a later date. Thursday’s meeting begins at 2pm in the County Administration Building at 481 Fourth Street in Hollister.
