San Benito High graduate and Oklahoma infielder Jessica Vest was named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Tuesday. The sophomore homered twice and drove in seven runs in a doubleheader sweep of Wichita State last week.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Vest went 2-for-2 with the pair of homer runs and seven RBIs. The Sooners won 16-1.

Vest’s first home run came in the second inning, when she capped off a six-run frame with a three-run home run. She hit her second home run two innings later for a 12-0 lead.

Vest is now 5-for-10 with three home runs and 10 RBIs. In her first year in Oklahoma, Vest finished with three singles and two RBIs in 27 at-bats.

Vest is the fifth Sooner to be recognized by the conference.
