The Hollister City Council tonight, aside from the sewer rate presentation, will consider two items on the San Benito River Greenway Project, a proposal to build a bike path and a plan to include buying land on Apricot Lane, paving a path from Apricot to Bridge Road and creating a staging area at either end of the path.

The city will consider two proposals for the project. The first is on the project’s design, and the other is an environmental study of the project. The design would be done by San Benito Engineering and Surveying, Inc. at a cost of $31,500. The environmental report is scheduled to be done by Analytical Environmental Services, costing $37,150.

The path would be 8 feet wide, and the staging area on Apricot Lane would be big enough for 15 vehicles, a recreation area for picnic tables and utilities.

Half of the funding comes from a California State Parks and Recreation grant. The $500,000 grant requires the city to match the funds for a total of $1 million.
