San Benito County’s foreclosure rate dropped by 32 percent in
April when compared with the prior month and 33 percent from the
same period last year, according to figures released recently by
RealtyTrac.
There were 39 notices of default during the month and a total of
112 properties at some stage of foreclosure, according to the
figures.

In March, there were a total of 164 houses in foreclosure in the county, according to RealtyTrac.
The numbers also equated to San Benito County dropping on the statewide ranking to having the 17th-worst foreclosure rate in California. The county has been ranked as low as second on that list.
Overall, one out of every 159 homes in San Benito County were in foreclosure.
The state and nation also saw drops in the foreclosure rate that month.
California had a 25 percent decrease in foreclosures and the country saw a 9 percent drop, according to RealtyTrac.
Nationwide, foreclosures increased 7 percent from the previous quarter and were up 16 percent from the first quarter of 2009.
One in every 138 U.S. housing units received a foreclosure filing during the quarter.
