County supervisors at their meeting next week are set to consider hiring an interim planning director to fill in for the retiring Art Henriques.

Supervisors will consider contracting with Cathy Woodbury as the interim planning director. Henriques is retiring from the position effective April 30 after more than four years on the job.

Woodbury recently retired from the City of Alameda where she was planning and building director. Prior to that she also served as planning manager for the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District and before that as a landscape architect for the City of Hayward, according to a statement from the county. She has more than 30 years of experience with public and private planning agencies.

Woodbury earned a bachelor of science degree from Fresno State University and a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from San Jose State University, according to the statement from the county.

The search for a new planning director could take up to four to five months, according to the county.

“Ms. Woodbury comes highly recommended and brings a wealth of experience in all areas of planning,” County Administrative Officer Susan Thompson said in a statement.

Next week’s board meeting is set for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the County Administration Building.
