It’s no secret – the often breathtaking scenery and open rangeland along Highway 25 in Paicines.
Now a family who owns about 1,000 acres of the treasured landscape has opened its front door; the R&G Land and Cattle Company – a guest lodge – launched as a business earlier this year.
The husband-wife owners – Barbara Rever and Jerry Ginsburg – hope to continue selling the country charm of the ranch and its attendant luxuries. Meanwhile, the family also owns an olive oil business and a horse training facility on the grounds.
“It’s something you never would have realized existed from the road,” said Shelley Hartman, business manager for Oils of Paicines.
The ranch includes a guest house that can accommodate three couples. The home has a fully-furnished living room and a kitchen. Also available on the property, a bunkhouse (a converted barn) can accommodate an additional 20 people, Hartman said.
A couple months ago, the family hosted a wedding on the ranch that included 150 guests. Ninety of them, Hartman said, spent the night. That, however, included many campers with tents.
“It’s pretty much, we can do just about anything,” Hartman said.
The ranch – which the business promotes for retreats, corporate events, weddings and birthday parties – consists of horseback riding, a pool and Jacuzzi, basketball and tennis courts, a gaming room and an array of livestock.
“There are cows there, of course,” Hartman said.
And with all the open space, hiking and picnicking opportunities are also available.
The husband-wife owners, both of whom are doctors, have hosted a scattering of events in past years. And the family has used it for gatherings as well.
“It’s been active,” Hartman said.
But they officially opened and began promoting the ranch in March. And since, she said, “It’s just blossomed.”
The cost to rent the ranch is $1,500 per day; the guest house costs $150 per day on weekends and $130 per day during the week. The bunk house costs $35 per person.
