project.
The Administrative Office of the Courts announced the selection of the construction manager at risk for the Hollister courthouse project. Kitchell CEM, of San Jose, will be responsible with delivery the project within a guaranteed maximum price. The firm will also be responsible for pre-construction services, planning and construction management services. They will solicit bids from subcontractors, and one of the requirements for the proposal was to include how they would advertise and solicit local subcontractors.
“We’re very pleased with the selection of Kitchell for the new courthouse project,” said Gil Solorio, the executive officer of the Superior Court of San Benito County. “Their selection, alongside the AOC, the court, and the project’s architecture firm SmithGroup, completes a project team that possesses the highest level of expertise, experience and commitment available.”
The former Fremont School site at Fourth and Monterey streets will house a three-courtroom, 42,860-square-foot building. The current project timeline estimates that the new courthouse will be open to the public in 2012. It will replace the current courthouse site across the street.
