Delo’s Divots: If you are like most players, when it comes to
fairway metal woods you top them more often than not. One way to
improve your contact is with some practice on the range. But with
this particular style of club, I advocate using a golf tee – for a
while, anyway.
If you are like most players, when it comes to fairway metal woods you top them more often than not. One way to improve your contact is with some practice on the range. But with this particular style of club, I advocate using a golf tee – for a while, anyway.
Start by teeing up the ball about a half-inch off the ground. Lower it a little once you are consistently striking the ball well. Little by little, drop the tee height every 10 or 20 balls. Before you know it, you will be hitting it off the ground with ease.
Remember, never tee a ball so high that it forces you to swing up to hit it. When using a fairway club, you should always meet the ball at the bottom of the arc of the swing.
