The issue of fraud or highly probable fraud in the District 5 Supervisor race was brought up way before election time. Contrary to what Mr. De La Cruz says, the Board of Supervisors has made the right decision in asking for an outside probe at a cost of $20,000. If Mr. De La Cruz is worried about the expenditure, why doesn’t he put a stop to the probe by taking a polygraph test? After all, if Mr. De La Cruz, his committee and volunteers are as honest as the day is long (which is what they want everyone to believe) and have not unequivocally contaminated this election, why haven’t they stepped forward to clear their names, and the cloud that continues to loom over this election? Instead they choose to lay low and hide in the grass, typical behavior of guilty cowards. Raise the RED FLAG!
What about the actions or lack there of and cavalier attitude of John Hodges? John’s attitude speaks eloquently about his eagerness to circumvent and unwillingness to deal with that which is right in front of him. Raise another RED FLAG.
We all know a ballot recount will accomplish nothing. Here’s what must happen.
It’s essential the Secretary of State’s Office get involved in the investigation NOW! In order for this investigation to be successful, it must identify some important issues including but not limit to:
A. All District 5 voter files must be updated and certified 100 percent accurate. Deceased persons must be deleted. There is a legal source document mailed monthly to the Registrar of Voters from State of California Registrar of Vital Statistics titled “List of Deceased Persons Over 18 Years of Age,” which must be used to delete the deceased.
Note: After my dad passed away, I continued for three years to receive voter information in his name. I continued to return the information and ballots to the elections office telling staff he had passed away giving them the date (I also wrote this information on his information packets and ballots) asking his name be deleted from voter files but to no avail. I finally went directly to the election supervisor who deleted dad’s file in my presence. Had I been dishonest, I could have voted and probably still be voting his ineligible ballot.
B.Identify all voters who have moved out of the district or county and are still receiving voter information and ballots at a specific physical location that someone else can be illegally voting. This can be accomplished in part by tracking all real property transfers though the recorders office.
C. Identify the persons who received an absentee ballot only after being intimated, coerced and assisted by Mr. De La Cruz to complete an application. There is a legitimate reason these 100 people had no intention of voting to begin with. Are they ignorant and illiterate? Do they not have command of or comprehension of the English or Spanish language? In this case, these people were easy prey for Mr. De La Cruz and his deceitful intimidating tactics. Ignorance breeds fear, and fearful people are led and told what to do. Who’s dot do you suppose De La Cruz told them to punch? Were these people legally eligible to vote? Are these people in the United States illegally? Are they not American citizens? Is the physical address where the ballot was sent not a permanent one? Do they no longer reside in the district? All of the above would make these people ineligible to vote. The investigation must find the answers to these and many more questions. Anything less would be a disservice to the voters. Another disservice would be Hodges certifying this election. Once the truth is uncovered, everyone will agree there must be a new election in November. Mr. De LA Cruz’s actions have consequences.
