Early election results show that Pat Turturici is off to a strong lead in the sheriff race, while the two incumbents running for supervisor seats have fallen behind, according to unofficial numbers released by the elections office.

Polls closed at 8 p.m., after which the local office counted vote-by-mail ballots. The rest of the results will be released intermittently as precincts’ ballots come in and have been counted.

The early numbers show that Turturici had gained 49.8 percent of the votes, with Darren Thompson having 23 percent, Ray Wood at 15.6 percent and Robert Scattini at 11.3 percent. Turturici had 1,970 votes. Thompson had 911. Wood had 616. And Scattini had 445, according to the figures.

In the race for District 3 supervisor, challenger Robert Rivas is out to a big lead over incumbent Pat Loe. Rivas gained 68.8 percent, with 555 votes. Loe had 31 percent, with 250 votes, according to the unofficial numbers.

In District 4, both challengers are beating the incumbent. Phil Fortino had the lead with 44.9 percent, or 625 votes. Jerry Muenzer had 38.8 percent, or 540 votes. Incumbent Reb Monaco had 16 percent, or 223 votes, according to the office.

If there are more than two candidates in a race, and if one of those candidates does not exceed 50 percent of the vote, the remaining two contenders vie in the November election.

All of the numbers are unofficial until a canvass after the election is done.

Look back for more results.
