Election season is off to a running start and the first pit stop is just a week away – the June 6 primary. County, state and congressional seats are at stake as non-partisan and partisan candidates vie for political positions. To help local readers sort through the regional issues, the political mudslinging and the campaign speak, the Pinnacle has put together a special section that readers can print out and take with them to the polls.
Simply select “News” in the left-hand navigation bar, and then scroll down until you see the headline on the “28th District,” and the series of nine stories begins there.
The San Benito County races included two supervisor seats and a race for the District Attorney. Reporter Melissa Flores posed questions via e-mail to each candidate, giving them a week to respond back with their thoughts on the issues.
The seat of San Benito County Superintendent is also up for grabs this year, with two candidates in the running. Reporter Patrick O’Donnell sat down with each candidate.
The state and national races that play a role in the regional primary include the 28th Assembly district and the 11th Congressional district. Reporter Kate Woods gathered the thoughts of the two democratic candidates in the 28th Assembly race (the Republican candidate is unopposed) and tackled the highly publicized and contested 11th Congressional District race. She cobbled together the thoughts of all candidates who responded to e-mail questions.
The comprehensive guide gives voters a snapshot view of the candidates, their top priorities and the issues in each race. We’ll see you at the polls.
