Mark Starritt

Mark Medina is set to succeed Margie Barrios as District 1 county supervisor, according to the unofficial results.
After the San Benito County Elections Office released most results Tuesday night, Medina held a lead of 585 to 450 votes over opponent Mark Starritt—or 56.09 percent to 43.14 percent, according to the numbers.
Both businessmen talked during the campaign about boosting the local economy.
Medina said wants to bring more businesses to the community and he would want to be notified anytime a local commercial or real estate interest has a lead. He said he would push for a plan to fast track commercial and industrial proposals, ahead of residential projects, which would create a certain number of jobs.
District 1 is made up of northeast Hollister and north county areas. Supervisor Margie Barrios has served two terms but did not seek reelection this year.
