Esperanza Gonzalez, aged 89, passed away at her home last Sunday surrounded by her loving family. Esperanza was a native of Michoacan, Mexico, and has lived in San Benito County since 1959. In addition to being a homemaker, Experanza worked in the local cannery’s for 23 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church; the Jesus Es Su Nombre Prayer Group at Sacred Heart, and the Teamsters Local 890 of Salinas. Esperanza was very interested in acquiring knowledge; she loved to read as well as study the bible. Sharing stories with her grandchildren, attending their school functions, especially their swimming meets, and walking to her home from church made her very happy. She is survived by her husband Baldomero Gonzalez; her children Angelina, Robert, and Josephine Gonzalez, Teresa Ochoa and Mary Macias, all of Hollister; Baldomero Gonzalez Jr. of Hanford, and Rafael Gonzalez of Sanger.
She was the mother of the late Anna Maria, Marco Antonio, Rafael, and Maria de Jesus Gonzalez. 32 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren survive.
Visitation will be today, (Wednesday) from 12 Noon until 8:00 P.M., with the Rosary offered at 7:00 P.M. at the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home, 870 San Benito St., Hollister. Family and friends will leave the mortuary Thursday at 9:30 A.M. for a Mass at St. Benedict’s Church at 10:00 A.M.
Interment: Calvary Cemetery.
