The former Family Fun Center outside of Hollister is possibly changing hands.
A sign posted outside the property in the 4000 block of San Felipe Road says it is up for auction, with Real Estate Auction Associates handling the pursued transaction.
The CEO for the real-estate company, Melissa Storment, confirmed REAA is conducting the sale for the property, which is under the name Haydon Family Farm and Park, LLC. That sale is set to take place Aug. 29, she said.
“Technically, she still owns the property,” Storment said, regarding Sally Haydon.
A call placed to the listed number for Haydon went to a recording that noted the number has been disconnected.
The sign outside the rural location has been replaced with two signs at the entrance – one that reads “The Park: Event Expo Center” and another that says “Park Cafe.” The property also has gone under the name Family Fun Center and Family Golf Park in recent years.
Just five years ago, Haydon had big plans for the site. In 2004, the San Benito County Planning Commission approved the use permits that she requested for a par-3, nine-hole golf course; a five-acre paintball course; and a new recreation room at the Family Golf Park. She also had a two-way driving range.
There were no trees or landscaping when Haydon bought the property in 1989 – just wide-open farmland. The park is located on 54 acres at the Highway 156 intersection and is bordered on the north side by Santa Ana Creek.
At the time, she noted how her goal was to have something for everyone – a place where teens can hang out and sing karaoke, a place where parents can play golf with their kids or play with adult friends.
She had this to say at the time: “We wanted to get away from the mechanical and get back to the natural. We want to try to create a synergy here like going shopping. We want people to come out because there is so much to do.”
