City officials are set to hire a new public works leader after Steve Wittry took a job about a year ago as the public works administrator for San Benito County.

An agenda for a July 12 special meeting notes how council members are scheduled to consider a contract with Rudi Golnik, who has served in various engineering positions in both the public and private sectors.

Wittry in July 2009 took the job as the county’s head official in the public works department, while the city hired an interim director after Wittry’s departure.

If hired, Golnik’s compensation is unspecified on the agenda. Finance official Robert Galvan noted in an e-mail he would have the information put together by Monday.

Monday’s special meeting is set for 5 p.m. at Hollister City Hall, 375 Fifth St.
