foe, D1 team Oak Grove. But after a second half collapse, the
Seahawks fell 40-7. The Seahawks record now stands at 1-2.

The Seahawks hosted Oak Grove West at Anzar High’s Barragan Field on Saturday.

Coming off a bye week, the Seahawks, who are a D2 team, had high hopes after an extra practice week in taking on higher division foe, D1 team Oak Grove. But after a second half collapse, the Seahawks fell 40-7. The Seahawks record now stands at 1-2.

The first quarter saw the Seahawks punting the ball after only three plays their first possession. But the defense quickly got the ball back as Seahawk defenders Sergio Sanchez, Tyler Rodriguez and Niko Zeltri caused a fumble. The Seahawks Raul De La Cruz recovered teh ball. Two plays later the Seahawks threw an interception, creating the first scoring opportunity for Oak Grove.

The Seahawks defense held Oak Grove silent in the the second quarter until Oak Grove scored on a break-away run off the left tackle. The score increased the Oak Grove lead to 14-0. The Seahawks fought back with a long pass play from R.J. Clark to Angel Jiminez to put San Benito on the scoreboard at 14-7.

Oak Grove got the ball to start the second half, and continued, mostly on the ground, to increase its lead to 21-7. The Seahawks seemed to never recover and gave up a couple of scores off of turnovers to fall behind 40-7.

The Seahawks will play the Central Marin Chargers on Saturday at Anzar High’s Barragan Field at 4 p.m.

The Pee Wee team also dropped its game to Oak Grove, losing 8-0 in front of its home crowd.

The pee wee team will play the Central Marin Chargers on Saturday at Anzar High’s Barragan Field at 2 p.m. The tiny mites will take on the San Jose Sharks at 11 a.m. at Anzar.
