Huge thanks to Main Street Media for giving FOSMAS (Friends of San Martin Animal Shelter) our very own blog!   We’ll post a couple of times a week about local dog and cat events, adoption fairs, lost and found animals, animals that need to be re-homed, and adoptable animals in our foster homes or at the shelter.

Adoption Fair Saturday 6/22:  This weekend we are having an adoption fair at Petco Gilroy, 8767 San Ysidro Avenue, from noon to 4:00 PM.  Stop by and meet our awesome volunteers and adoptable animals.   Would you like to volunteer at our permanent Adoption Center at Petco Gilroy?  If you can give a couple of hours one day per week in the late afternoon or early evening, we’d love to have your help.   In return for feeding, watering, scooping, and light cleaning, you’ll be rewarded with a lapful of loving, purring kitties.

Rehoming:  We frequently receive requests for help with finding new homes for cats or dogs when the current owners can no longer keep them.

PERSIAN – A stunning white Persian needs a new home.  Because of his allergies, a little boy can’t visit his grandparent’s home because of their kitty.  The Persian is an 11-year-old male, very healthy, visited his vet twice a year, and is current on vaccines.  If you or someone you know is interested in adopting this beautiful cat, please contact Katrina Cabral directly at [email protected].

BALINESE – Tashi is a gorgeous 5-year-old purebred, neutered Balinese male.  Unfortunately, his prior owners (before his current humans) raised him as an outdoor cat, and he is extremely unhappy being confined to the indoors.  When he escapes, he gets into fights, so his current human has had a number of vet bills because of his injuries.  People love him.  He does eye kisses, purrs loudly, and is very social.   He has a very strong presence.  He doesn’t scratch people or furniture.  He needs an indoor home with SAFE outdoor enclosure ASAP.  He loves sleeping with his humans, and is very human-centered.  He’s in Fairfax (Marin County), but transportation can be arranged.  If you or someone you know is interested in adopting this beautiful cat, please contact Marilyn Ambra directly at [email protected] and she can put you touch with the kitty’s human.

TERRIER – Fergus is looking for a new home due to unforeseen circumstances that forced his humans to move, and they can’t take him with them.  Fergus is a 6-year-old tan terrier.  He is neutered and up-to-date on his rabies vaccine.  He loves all people, but his current owner recommends no small children in his new family as little dogs tend to nip at anyone who accidentally steps on them.  Other than that, he’s a very happy-go-lucky dog, loves to go for short walks, and loves treats!  If you’d like more information or are interested in adopting Fergus, please contact Kimberly Hayes directly at (408) 722-0412 / [email protected].
