An angel passed on Sunday morning.

After an extended and valiant battle with illness, Fran at home, comfortably in her bed, said a final earthly goodbye to her beloved children Matt and Marni and loving husband Marty. We will be reunited again, somewhere, sometime.

If an angel is one possessing a pure heart and who gives unconditional love, than Fran was an angel.

Besides raising two kids and countless pets, she had two careers. For twenty years she worked for Pacific Telephone as an operator and then service representative.

At an age when most people are pondering retirement, she embarked on a new career in nursing. She went back to college, studied hard and received her R. N. Certificate. It quickly became clear that this was her Life’s calling.

Nothing seemed to faze her, yet she never lost her sensitivity and empathy for those under her care. With Fran as your nurse you were in tender yet professional hands. Fran continued to work until the day she entered Hospice. Work was therapy for her. By helping others, her mind was diverted from her own dire health issues.

Fran loved to travel and became almost giddy at the prospect. She cruised to Mexico, visited most of the Hawaiian Islands and took in the best America’s East Coast has to offer. Her fondest memories were of an extended trip across the British Isles with dear friends.

Though small in stature she was big in heart and a fearless mother bear if anyone under her care was threatened.

Her family, circle of close friends, fellow Kaiser Nurses and numerous patients were better for having had Fran touch their lives. She was very close to her mother Betty, who along with her brother Butch, preceded her in everlasting Life. It’s certain that she now smiles with them.

Donations can be made in her name to the Colon Cancer Alliance, 1025 Vermont Avenue NW, Suite 1066, Washington, D.C. 20005.
