Thank you to the San Benito County board of supervisors for inviting the supervisors from Yolo and Sonoma County to discuss and answer questions about the effects of Indian Casinos in their areas. I think their facts and opinions were very helpful in our effort to better educate ourselves about this project. After much soul searching and listening to all sides of this issue, I feel it would behoove us to try and do everything in our power to halt this project. It looks like we should, as a county, protest and then hopefully be able to defeat the project. Since the California Valley Miwok Tribe is “Reservation Shopping” – looking to buy land in an area where they have no ancestral ties – hopefully we will be successful in stopping the casino from coming here. I would encourage all residents of our county to get involved in this important decision and join me in trying to stop the casino from coming to San Benito County.
