The fourth annual Rams Golf Tournament at Eagle Ridge Golf Club last Friday raised approximately $19,000 for the athletic programs at Gavilan College.

The team of Joel Goldsmith, Tim Goldsmith, Ron Garofalo and Jay Smith was the winner with their names added to a perpetual trophy housed at Eagle Ridge.

Second place was the team of Douglas Marshall, Bill Marshall, James Marshall and Michael Reichel. Third place went to the team of David Funkhouser, Bruce Kendall, Randy Kirk and Rhett Hall.

A total of 144 golfers signed up for the event, which was sponsored through the General College Educational Foundation.

“This year’s tournament was the absolute best event we’ve had,” said Ron Hannon, Gavilan director of athletics. “The student-athletes from Gavilan College will directly benefit because of their generosity.”

The foundation will hold another tournament in May that benefits all programs on campus. Ken Berry, the tournament director last Friday, will serve in that capacity for the spring event.
