It wasn’t easy, but the Gavilan volleyball team was able to uphold its perfect conference record.
The Rams topped West Valley College 2-0 in five games Friday on the road. Gavilan won 25-25, 22-22, 25-12, 25-25, 19-17 to improve to 4-0 in conference (14-6 overall).Â
Four Rams players reached the double digits in kills. Tasmin Apple led the way with 20, followed by Andreinna Castaneda with 12 and Savanna Hartman and Jessica Stofer with 10 a piece.Â
Sabina Gerard had 53 assists for Gavilan in addition to her 12 digs. Karina Daniels led the way in digs with 26, while Raelynn Heredia had 25.
Gavilan will be back on the court at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to host Skyline College.Â

Hartnell shuts out Gavilan
Gavilan suffered its ninth loss of the year Friday at Hartnell.
The Rams were shutout 4-0 at Hartnell, dropping them to 3-9 on the season.
Hartnell struck in the 17th minute of the first half, scoring off the foot of Joni Cruz to jump out to a 1-0 lead. The goal was assisted by Andres Rivera.Â
Miguel Salinas, assisted by Eduardo Avalos, scored in the 53rd minute for the hosts to improve their score to 2-0. Angel Chavez scored in the 74th minute for Hartnell on a goal assisted by Albert Garcia. The roles would reverse in the 84th minute when Garcia scored on a goal assisted by Chavez for the final score.Â
Gavilan will be back in action at 4 p.m. Tuesday when it travels to Mission College in Santa Clara.Â
