Gavilan students Tessa Fischer (volleyball) and Jeffrey Grattan (football) were among those recognized by the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators as honorable mention scholar-athletes.

The NATYCAA first presented awards in 1992. Fischer and Grattan were among 20 women and 20 men chosen for the award.

“Everyone at the two-year college level should be extremely proud of this year’s winners and honorable mention selections,” said Carl Heinrich, who is the NATYCAA President and Johnson County Community College Director of Athletics. “The majority of our two-year college student-athletes are very serious about their academic pursuits, and these are the cream of the crop.”
