concert on Thursday evening in the SJSU Concert Hall.
Gilroy High School graduate Dana Guerin was a feature artist in the San Jose State University School of Music & Dance presentation of The Wind Ensemble in their first fall concert on Thursday evening in the SJSU Concert Hall.

Guerin was a guest percussionist during the show.

The evening’s program opened with David Stanhope’s Olympic Fireworks, written for the closing ceremony of the 2004 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Other works on the program included Norman Dello Joio’s Fantasies on a Theme by Haydn, Eric Whitacre’s October, and Vincent Perisichetti’s Masquerade for Band, conducted by Jesse Leyva.

Other percussionist featured in the wind program were percussionists Beth Dameron from Hughson, CA; Elizabeth Goodfellow from Lodi, CA; and Lane Sanders from Porterville, CA. Along with Guerin, they are percussion majors and were featured in David Gillingham’s Concertino for Four Percussion and Wind Ensemble.

Proceeds from the event benefit the School of Music & Dance Scholarship Fund.
