They were at their home course but it wasn’t enough of an advantage for the San Benito High girls golf team to win Tuesday’s Tri County Athletic League 9-hole tournament that included play between the Balers and Salinas, Gilroy, Live Oak and Alvarez High School.

The Balers 222 team total left them in second place, 34 shots behind the winning Salinas High team total of 188. Rounding out the scoring, Gilroy High finished third with a team total of 248, Live Oak was fourth at 254, and Alvarez finished one shot behind the Acorns to take fifth place.

Salinas’ Keegan Dominguez, who carded a 41 on Ridgemark’s Diablo Course, was the individual medallist.

The Balers next match will take place Monday, Oct. 15 at the Corde Valle Golf Club in San Martin, the home course of the Acorns of Live Oak High School.
