Junior Jenny Glosser carded a 50 at the Tri-County Athletic League Jamboree Wednesday at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club in Hollister, and led the Lady ‘Balers to a team score of 213 at the season-opening meet.

The score placed San Benito fifth out of 10 teams, with Santa Catalina posting a 175 to lead all squads. Salinas surprised most with their second-place score of 179, while Stevenson and Monte Vista Christian recorded a 194 and a 210, respectively.

“It’s what I expected,” San Benito coach Chris Branon said. “I think we could have had better scores … but overall, none of the girls are seniors yet.

“The way they’re learning, I think it’s a great start.”

Pacific Grove shot a 255 to finish seventh, despite medalist Haley Andreas carding the day’s best score of 37.

San Benito found their scores in the 50s, with both Jordan Davies and Katie Moeller recording matching 53s. Umi Chang’s 57 rounded out the scorers for the Lady ‘Balers, while teammates Alexis Sanchez and Nicole Rianda posted scores of 57 and 65, respectively.

Led by Glosser, who Branon said played very well, San Benito is eyeing a sub-200 score for nine holes this season.

Live Oak’s 244 was good enough for sixth, while Gilroy (256), Notre Dame (258) and Watsonville (291) rounded out the scoring.

San Benito will host Live Oak today for a scrimmage at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club. On Tuesday, the Lady ‘Balers will travel to San Martin to take on Live Oak at CordeValle at 3:30 p.m.
