Dancing is in the air
My mom and dad used to go to Arthur Murray Dance Studio. We kids
were all of 1-, 4- and 5-years old, so once a week they chose to
trip the light fantastic rather than trip over three little rug
rats.
My friend tried to take me to Contra dancing on the coast, but
the twirling left my head spinning. Give me Shaboom any day and I’m
in my element.
Dancing is in the air
My mom and dad used to go to Arthur Murray Dance Studio. We kids were all of 1-, 4- and 5-years old, so once a week they chose to trip the light fantastic rather than trip over three little rug rats.
My friend tried to take me to Contra dancing on the coast, but the twirling left my head spinning. Give me Shaboom any day and I’m in my element.
From hand jiving to rocking out to Beach Boys, Shaboom has graced stages from the Cioppino Feed, which supports Gilroy High School sports, to last month’s Garlic Festival.
Whatever your choice of dancing – ballroom, hip-hop or flamingo – dancing is a true aerobic form of exercise. The fun is that muscles are toned and smiles grace faces when there is music to lighten the step.
So whether you enjoy jiving to a Garlic Idol belting out the tunes or singing sonorously with Pavarotti, get up and dance.
Twenty minutes of aerobic exercise is all it takes to get the groove going. Why not move those muscles and feet to a dancing beat?
My eldest daughter would dance at Julie Reynolds’ ballet class. My youngest learned to walk and took her first steps while imitating her sister.
Whether you are a youngster just learning to dance or an experienced waltzer, put on a CD, tape or dust off the old records and enjoy the beat. You needn’t be at a party to enjoy gliding across the floor. Somehow housework is lightened when you feel you can jet across the floor.
With somewhat cooler breezes blowing, open those windows in the cool of the evening, play whichever tunes tickle your fancy and dance, dance, dance the night away.
