Palma was led by Jay Burlison, who medaled Monday’s round by shooting a par-36 on the back nine of the Salinas course.

Both Will Cross and Ryan Han of San Benito followed Burlison, each carding a 39 to lead the Balers. But San Benito’s remaining scores were all in the 40s.

Andrew Colton recorded a 44, Tony Ramos finished with a 45, while both Nathan Winn and Jared Lantis rounded out the team with matching 47s.

San Benito and Palma have either finished in first or second place in each TCAL Tournament this season, with the Chieftains owning a 3-2 edge on the top spot with one TCAL Tournament remaining.

The final TCAL Tournament will take place on April 26 at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Gilroy.

Meanwhile, Monday’s tourney saw North Salinas finish a distant third with a 251, while Everett Alvarez followed in fourth with a 254. Alisal narrowly trailed in fifth with a 256, Gilroy was one stroke behind with a 257, and Salinas rounded out the TCAL member schools in seventh with a 268.

Prior to the sixth and final TCAL Tournament in Gilroy, though, as well as the TCAL Finals at the Salinas Golf and Country Club on May 2, San Benito will have several tune-up rounds, beginning with next Monday’s non-league tourney in Aptos.

The Balers will tee off in the non-league tournament at the Seascape Golf Club at 10 a.m.
