Caroline Belmont medaled with a 1-over 36 at the Spring Hills Golf Course Thursday, and host Monte Vista Christian defeated the San Benito girls golf team 249-255 in Tri-County Athletic League action.
Despite Belmont’s 36 on the par-35 front nine at the Watsonville course, which was 10 strokes better than San Benito’s No. 1 player, the Balers only finished behind Monte Vista by six strokes.
Sophomore Emiley Palmquist led San Benito with a 46 and Lexi Branon trailed with a 49, although the remaining Balers finished in the 50s.
Senior Nicole Rianda carded a 50 for San Benito, while LaShea Dailey recorded a 52 and Christine “Critter” Ceglia scored a 58. Mandy Glosser rounded out the team with a 60.
San Benito will look to rebound at home on Monday when it will host Santa Catalina at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club. Tee time is 3:30 p.m.
