Pepperdine's John MacArthur hits out of the high rough Monday at the WCC championships.

During the West Coast Conference golf championship at San Juan Oaks Golf Club this week, St. Mary’s dominated the men’s field, taking the title by nine strokes over second-place San Francisco. It was the first golfing championship for the school. Overall, the Gaels shot 20-under through three rounds.

On the women’s side, Pepperdine won its 11th consecutive championship carding a 47-over par during the three-round championship. The Waves defeated San Francisco by seven strokes.

Individually, St. Mary’s Ben Geyer won the individual championship — carding a 9-under par — beating San Diego’s Alex Ching by one stroke. Geyer won the tournament entering the final round in fifth place.

For the women, Gonzaga’s Victoria Fallgren defeated Seattle’s Caitlin McCleary in a one-hole playoff after both golfers finished the tournament 8-over. Fallgren carded a birdie on the ninth hole — and first playoff hole — to clinch the title. It was the first individual championship for Gonzaga.
