One of the most common posture problems in golf is the “bottom tuck.”

Many golfers think their bottoms are sticking out too far if they use the proper posture for golf. Although it may feel like your bottom is out there, it really isn’t.

Another reason why many don’t follow this correct positioning, is because players don’t realize the need to bend from the hip joint and not the waist.

In the “bottom tuck” posture, your arms can’t swing freely and must swing around the body. This promotes a curved or round back.

From this position we tend to droop our shoulders and drop our head. This is not a well-balanced position and it won’t generate much power to hit the ball.

In the proper posture, the back is much straighter and the arms are allowed to hang freely away from the body.

This allows you to swing freely without needing to go around the body. The head is up and looking down at the ball without needing to drop the head.

This is a more athletic position with more balance and freedom for body movement to generate good club-head speed. The shoulders are much more square for good shoulder turns throughout the swing.
