We at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals commend Gov. Schwarzenegger for signing legislation to ban force feeding ducks and geese for foie gras.
Geese are social animals who establish hierarchies in their flocks and love to forage.
They are usually monogamous, and both parents care for their young. Ducks also like to forage, swim and raise their young. Even most ardent carnivores will agree that it is cruel to force large metal pipes down bird’ throats and pump them full of so much grain that their stomachs sometimes rupture and their necks are bruised or ripped open.
It’s easy to make a mouth-watering meal without abusing animals.
