Caller 1: Yeah, I’d like to see the freshmen and JV scores after the football games.

After you put the varsity scores, can you put the freshmen and JV scores? The kids would like it.

Thanks a lot.

Green Phone: We’ve already started doing that. The freshmen and JV parents spoke. The Green Phone listened. But apparently not well enough …

Caller 2: I’m inquiring about the Friday, Sept. 24 newspaper. On the Green Phone, a parent stated their kid played on JV and was wondering about more information on freshmen and JV sports. Green Phone stated there was only a certain availability of writers to go out there.

But I personally don’t like when almost half the front page and half the second page is devoted to one female boxer, where there could be articles on all the other kids participating who are local kids. She doesn’t do much down here. It says Gilroy native just because she has a home here.

I would also prefer to have more on the freshmen and JV team, and if you need us to start writing, have someone go down there and ask if they can help out – rather than just page after page every week basically of this Jeffries girl fighting … and two big huge pictures.

Let’s get back to the kids and where they are.

Green Phone: Duly noted, Caller 2. If any freshmen/JV coach or parent wants to send us information about the games, we will be more than happy to print as much as we can. One quick note, though: Jeffries was born and raised in the area and still lives here. She’s a world champion four times over and has earned quite a nice reputation around the boxing world. To us at least, hometown coverage of her fights – which only occur only a handful of times a year – isn’t exactly unwarranted.

Caller 3: I’ve just assigned to review your current mortgage and according to our records, we should be able to lower your current interest rate and significantly reduce your monthly payment. Bad credit, no credit, no problem …

Green Phone: Bad ad, no interest, no way …

Caller 4: Hi, this isn’t a beef at all. I just wanted to say how proud a lot of us are of our local football teams. I’m not someone who is native to the area, but I still try to keep up with all the teams … Live Oak, Gilroy and Hollister, even if I’m too old to go to most of their games!

But it does look like it’s going to be a good TCAL season and I just wanted to know if you guys could print the remaining schedules for those three teams. I know I should’ve just kept that football preview the newspaper did, but I think it got thrown out or something. I think a lot of people would like to know anyway. Thanks a lot.

Green Phone: No problem, Caller 5. You have a right to be proud of these teams – the trio has combined to lose just one of its first 11 games. It does get tougher, though. Here’s how it shapes up for the rest of the season:

Gilroy – Oct. 9 at North County, Oct. 15 vs. San Benito, Oct. 22 at Palma, Oct. 29 at N. Salinas, Nov. 5 vs. Salinas, Nov. 12 vs. Live Oak

San Benito – Oct. 1 at Alvarez, Oct. 15 at Gilroy, Oct. 23 at N. Salinas, Oct. 29 vs. Salinas, Nov. 5 vs. Live Oak, Nov. 12 at PalmaLive Oak – Oct. 1 vs. North County, Oct. 8 at Monterey, Oct. 15 vs. N. Salinas, Oct. 22 at Salinas, Oct. 29 vs. Palma, Nov. 5 at San Benito, Nov. 12 at Gilroy.
