The Grand Jury provides a unique and confidential forum in which 19 citizens of integrity are able to objectively inquire about, observe, learn, and report on the operations and issues of Hollister and all of San Benito County. Some of these issues include, but are not limited to: economic growth and development, attracting businesses and jobs, infrastructure, housing, growth and harmony, public safety and staffing, crime – including gang-related issues – and water.
The requirements for application are that one must be:
– a citizen of the United Sates of at least 18 years of age,
– a current resident within the county limits for at least one year, and
– have reasonable intelligence and sound judgment,
– a working command of the English language,
– never having been convicted of malfeasance in office or any felony/high crime,
– not currently acting as an elected official, or having served as a trial juror in any state court.

Right now is the time to log on to: www.sanbenitocountygrandjury.org to print a copy of the Grand Juror’s application and mail to: San Benito County Grand Jury, P.O. Box 1624, Hollister, CA 95023. A copy may also be obtained by sending a request to that same address or by contacting the Clerk of the Superior Court, 440 Fifth St., Hollister, CA 95023. The presiding judge will impanel the 2009-2010 Grand Jury on July 1, 2009 for a term of one year.
