BY MARI DAVIS
As the president of the Board of Directors at Chamberlain’s, I am pained by the anger, and factually inaccurate statements presented in the online message board and implied in the newspaper article (published today).
Chamberlain’s has served our community for almost 40 years now and has profoundly improved the lives of countless numbers of children who would have otherwise been forgotten and subject to unspeakable neglect. Doreen Crumrine began as a child care worker 30 years ago and left as the CEO. It is an achievement and a career to be very proud of, and the board collectively honors this achievement. In the past three years, however, this organization has grown significantly and the circumstances under which we operate have also changed considerably.
It was time for a change – a change has been made. Plain and simple.
We are currently more than half way through rebuilding our entire campus and are all very excited and optimistic about the benefits that this will bring to Chamberlain’s. The outpouring of community support has vastly exceeded our expectations and we are tremendously grateful that our shared dream is becoming a reality. We never forget that the reason that we are here is to provide a safe and healthy environment for the kids.
As such, we always welcome your comments, ideas, concepts, and criticisms. The board meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month at 4 p.m., and are open to the public. We invite your comments and presence. On behalf of the Chamberlain’s community and all of the children that are served we thank you for your continued support; we couldn’t do it without you.
