Private San Jose school beats Anzar 62-13 on Monday, 55-18 on

Just two days after falling to Harker on the road, the Anzar High boys basketball team lost to the private San Jose school for a second time this week in the opening round of the San Jose Academy Tournament.
After falling 62-13 on Monday, the Hawks lost to Harker 55-18 on Wednesday in the first round of the tournament.
Mark Rania had seven points in Monday’s loss, while Jason Merz had nine and Johnny Doty added four on Wednesday.
“We were in it for the first quarter,” Anzar head coach Ed Cecena said of Wednesday’s game. “We played probably the best quarter of the season for us.”
Anzar trailed 9-7 after one quarter on Wednesday. But Harker blew the game open in the second, third and fourth quarters, outscoring the Hawks 17-4, 19-4 and 10-3, respectively.
Anzar falls to 0-6 overall.
They will return to the San Jose Academy Tournament on Friday at 4 p.m. The Hawks are slated to play the loser between Gunderson and Saint Thomas More.
